May I invite you into your fun era?

Life really does have a way of putting the REAL in REALity, doesn’t it now? We ride a lot of waves day to day and I’d be lying if I told you I wasn’t right there with you on the teeter totter of highs and lows, ups and downs, celebrations and condemnations. It’s part of the human experience. If anyone tells you otherwise, well, I have a few follow up questions for them.

We aren’t absolved of the life that is inevitably coming for us. We can acquire tools, use them and have beautiful practices that help us as we go, but there isn’t one thing out there that is a solution. Sorry to disappoint, but not even Soul Dive Yoga can save you from all the grit and glory that is the human experience. What I’ve come to realize, yes even someone like me who seemingly has all of the resources available at her fingertips, I get tripped up in feelings around things that haven’t even happened yet. The anxiety of impending loss, transition or some ending I may or may not see coming. I feel it with Alfie, 18 years young and doing great, but alas the reality sets in. With our parents, partners and pieces of ourselves that will evolve over time - some landing in a space we didn’t expect nor wanted in the first place.

What I can tell you is this:

While you aren’t immune to the less than desirable parts of your life you’ve yet to live, overthinking isn’t going to help you through it. If you’re spending all this time dwelling over outcomes that haven’t arrived and feeling anxious by some conclusion that hasn’t been drawn yet… or worse, worrying you’ll lose the thing you’ve placed a death grip over… Well, it’s time to change the vibration. While you can’t control the outcome, you CAN discipline the thoughts. The thoughts are what takes the present moment - which by all accounts is as close to truth as we know - and makes it a completely different scenario. Our thoughts disrupt our equanimity spiraling us down some rabbit hole of false understanding. And the good news is this: You CAN do something about this (enter Soul Dive Yoga).

You could wrap yourself up in a big blanket of worry, or you could quite literally stop thinking about it and start asking yourself what brings you joy instead. It’s really that easy. We can’t get through life on the merry-go-round of what ifs. We have to get off, place our feet in the dirt and decide what’s going to fill us up vs. what’s bringing us down. More than likely what’s bringing you down isn’t even real. Think about it. Your biggest worry, fear or the thing you’re hanging on to with a death grip. Is it actually here right now? The answer is no. Because if it was, if you were in the midst of loss or the ending you didn’t see coming, the feelings wouldn’t be anxiety and worry, they would be sadness and possibly grief. So check yourself, soul fam.

May I invite you into your fun era? Can you drop the thinking and say yes? It’s a vibrational frequency of limitless possibilities, joy, laughter, lightness. It’s not free from the heartache, but it’s a space you have the choice to return to. You can get caught up pushing for the outcomes and making sure everything looks a certain way, but how exhausting and takes you out of the present. This life is meant to be enjoyed, and as cliche as it sounds, your suffering is your own choice. So take my hand and let’s go. Into the fun era, into the space of bright light, more laughs and bigger love. When we are in a blissful state of joy, the things that show up are more aligned with our soul. That’s a cosmic law I dare anyone to refute.

Let’s close out festival season in our own fun eras, as a community this Saturday!

Bonus round! Ethos Modern Medicine is back for another mobile IV clinic! Drop us a line if you’d like to reserve your spot! The clinic immediately follows the 10am Soulful Vinyasa class.

See you on the mat this weekend for one final festival playlist!

Big Love,

Alex
