Freedom (I know what you want)

Freedom

I was a few years into my first business (a PR firm back in Chicago) when my dad paid me a complement. He said you know, it’s freedom you really want and continued telling me how I had built a business and life that granted it. I did not receive it that way. I was annoyed and began mentally listing all the things I thought I needed to have the life I wanted. More clients, more money, a husband (just to name a few). That mindset kept me as a prisoner in my own (bougie) world. And my bet is your mindset keeps you as one, too.

Here’s what I know

We aren’t so different, and while yes - more money, the perfect match, a beautiful home - are all things we can agree would add some value to our lives, none of them are able to be enjoyed if you’re not free.

If you are held hostage by your old stories, self-deprecating thought patterns, a closet full of clothes you don’t wear or what’s worse, a pile of old college t-shirts YOU, my dear, are not free.

You can have all the money in the world, the most beautiful instagram feed, fly private and all the rest and still be a prisoner. With the veil of complacency draped over your perception, jail can seem like a beautiful place. Because it’s what you know, and you know it because you exist smack in the middle of it.

It’s me, hi, I’m the problem, it’s me. Ring a bell? Like me, Taylor Swift and most of the world - you’re the problem. You are the one that stands in the way of living a life filled with real freedom.

And let me be clear by what I mean when I say it’s freedom you want:

It’s not freedom for yourself, it’s freedom FROM yourself.

When you get dialed into the practices that quiet the ticker tape of thoughts from your mind, open up your body so you can release stored emotions and admit that you need to clean out your junk drawer, freedom starts be revealed. If you don’t, if you continue to resist - “I’m not flexible,” “I don’t have time,” “I can’t afford it,” “I might wear that dumb t-shirt from my rec volleyball league” - you are choosing to remain a prisoner.

Until you upgrade your mindset, choosing to dig into the messiest corners of your life, you won’t be free. Of course you’ll have the illusion of freedom, of which money can most certainly buy, but you won't experience it at a soulful level. We don’t say "into the deep" for nothin…

One place to start is our Manifesting with Feng Shui workshop this Sunday. You don’t have to be flexible or a millionaire to attend this one. Kristina Hollinger is one of my dearest Soul Sisters. She’s a nationally recognized Feng Shui expert and has been seen on HGTV’s Windy City Rehab show. This woman knows what’s up and the fact that you can tap into her magic for $45 is a huge gift (her masterclasses and one-on-one consultations are exponentially more).

So here’s to more freedom, living with greater peace and purpose. If you think Yoga is all about Vinyasa and Chaturanga you’ve missed the boat. So come see what we’re all about. Come see for yourself where the happy people hang out. I can promise, no matter what brings you through the door, you’ll feel compelled to stay, return and keep coming back.

Big Love,

Alex
